Privacy Policy — Bedel AI

Bedel AI is an Arabic-first AI assistant published by BEDEL SARL, ILOT P N 0058 R TEYARETT, Nouakchott, Mauritania. This policy explains what the application collects, why, and what you can do about it.

It applies to the Android and iOS Bedel AI apps. It does not apply to the Bedel browser, which has its own policy.

What we collect

How we collect it. Everything below is collected only when you do something in the app — sign in, write a message, attach a file, dictate, save a memory. There is no background collection. Before your first message the app shows a consent screen describing the data sharing in this policy; nothing is sent to an AI provider until you accept it.

Account information. When you create an account we collect your phone number, name, date of birth and sex. Your phone number is how you sign in: we send a one-time code to it over WhatsApp, and to deliver that code your number is transmitted to WhatsApp (Meta).

Your conversations. The messages you send, the assistant's replies and the titles generated for your conversations are transmitted to our servers and stored there, so your history is available when you sign in again. This includes any system instructions you set and any "memories" you save.

Temporary Chat is not saved to your history and is not stored in our conversation database. It is still transmitted to our servers and to the model provider in order to produce a reply — it is not processed on your device alone.

Files you attach. Photos you attach from your camera or gallery, and documents you upload, are transmitted to our servers and stored so they can be used in the conversation or, if you choose, kept in your library.

Voice recordings. If you use dictation, the audio is transmitted to our servers and to a speech-to-text provider, solely to produce the text that appears in the composer.

Search queries. When you search your conversation history, the text you type is sent to our servers to run the search.

Diagnostic information. When something goes wrong, the app sends us the error message, an HTTP status code and identifiers for the session and request. These reports are linked to your account and do not contain the content of your messages.

What we do not collect

  • No third-party advertising or analytics service.
  • No advertising ID, device ID or installation ID.
  • No tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No location data.
  • No access to your contacts, calendar or text messages.
  • No payment or card details — the app contains no purchase flow, and the balance screen is read-only.

Third parties who receive your data

Bedel AI does not run its own AI models. To produce a reply, the content you send — your message and the conversation so far, any images, documents and dictated audio you include, and the instructions and memories you save — is transmitted to the companies below. Each acts as a processor on our behalf: under its terms of service it may use your content only to provide the service to us, not to train its models or for advertising, and it must protect it to a standard at least equal to this policy. We ask for your explicit permission in the app before any of this happens, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — hosts our servers, stores the files you attach and routes every model request through its AI Gateway. It also runs the Whisper speech-to-text model used for dictation. Privacy policy.
  • OpenRouter, Inc. (United States) — the routing service through which most models in the model picker are reached. Privacy policy.
  • The maker of the model you choose. The model picker groups every model under its maker's name: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Meta, Mistral AI, DeepSeek, Moonshot AI (Kimi), Alibaba (Qwen), Zhipu AI (GLM), MiniMax and NVIDIA. Only the maker of the model you select for a message receives that message; in Compare, each model you pick receives the same prompt. When you generate an image, the prompt goes to Google or OpenAI.
  • Google (Gemini) — also transcribes your dictation when you choose a Gemini transcription model in Settings.
  • Brave Software, Inc. and DuckDuckGo — when web search is turned on for a message, a search query derived from your message (never your account details) is sent to Brave Search, or to DuckDuckGo as a fallback.
  • PlanetScale, Inc. — hosts our database in London (United Kingdom), where your account, conversations and memories are stored. Privacy policy.
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) — receives your phone number to deliver your sign-in code.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. No other third party receives your content.

Sharing a conversation

If you choose to share a conversation, we create a public link: anyone with that link can read it without signing in. Only conversations you explicitly share are affected.

How your data is protected

Our servers run on Cloudflare's network, your files are stored in Cloudflare R2 and our database is hosted in London (United Kingdom). All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Your session token is stored in your device's hardware-backed secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore) and is excluded from device backups. Your conversations are not stored in plain files on your device.

How long we keep it

We keep account data, conversations and files for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated data is deleted. Diagnostic logs are kept for a limited period for operational and security purposes, then deleted.

Your choices

  • Delete your account: Settings → Profile → Delete account opens our deletion request form, which is also available without the app at bedel.mr/delete-account. Deleting your account also withdraws the permission you gave for AI processing.
  • Delete individual items — conversations, documents, library files and memories.
  • Report content — any assistant reply can be reported with the "…" button beneath it. Reports are reviewed by a person.

Children

Bedel AI is not directed at children and is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app.
