Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Bedel ("Bedel", "we", "us") operates the Bedel browser mobile app and web services for shopping, payments, and digital services in Mauritania. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data we collect

Account data (when you sign in):

First name, last name, phone number
Language preference
Authentication tokens (stored securely in your device's keychain)

Usage data:

Browsing history within the app (stored locally on your device only)
Favorites/bookmarks (synced to your account if logged in)
Order history (when you purchase through Bedel partner services)
App interaction events (screens viewed, buttons tapped) — via PostHog analytics

Device data:

Device model, OS version, app version
Push notification token (via OneSignal) — only if you grant permission
IP address (for security and region detection)
Anonymous device identifier (for analytics)

3. What we do NOT collect

We do not track you across other apps or websites
We do not sell your data to third parties
We do not collect location data
We do not access your camera, photos, contacts, or microphone (except: the camera is used only to control the flashlight/torch; no image capture)

4. How we use your data

Deliver the core services (tabs, bookmarks, orders, authentication)
Sync your favorites and account across devices
Send transactional push notifications (order updates) — only with your permission
Measure app performance and fix bugs via anonymous analytics
Comply with legal obligations

5. Third-party services

PostHog — product analytics (self-hosted)
OneSignal — push notification delivery
Apple — App Store distribution, crash reports, push notification delivery (APNs)

6. Data retention

Account data: kept while your account is active
Browsing history: stored locally on your device, cleared when you tap "Clear History" in Settings
Analytics events: retained for 12 months
Order history: retained according to legal/tax requirements

7. Your rights

Access: request a copy of your data by emailing support@bedel.mr
Correction: update your profile in-app or via support
Deletion: use the "Delete Account & Data" button in Settings, or visit /delete-account
Withdraw consent: disable push notifications or analytics at any time in app Settings or iOS Settings

8. Children

Bedel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We'll post updates here with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be notified in the app.

Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using the Bedel browser ("the App") or visiting bedel.mr, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Bedel is a mobile browser and digital services platform for Mauritania, offering:

Access to Bedel shopping, charging, and digital services
Multi-tab web browsing
Order tracking
Push notifications

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service
One account per person

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

Use the service for illegal activities
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or exploit the app
Scrape, bulk-download, or abuse our APIs
Impersonate another person
Upload malicious content

5. Content and third-party services

The Bedel browser lets you visit any website. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party sites you visit. Always review the terms and privacy policies of other services.

6. Payments and orders

When you place an order through a Bedel partner (e.g., Charge Bedel, Sayra), you are entering into a contract with that partner. Bedel facilitates the transaction but is not the seller of record unless explicitly stated.

7. Intellectual property

The Bedel name, logo, app design, and content are owned by Bedel. You may not use them without permission.

8. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or compatibility with every device.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bedel is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → "Delete Account & Data".

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Disputes will be resolved in Mauritanian courts.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
